Hello again,

Last month, we facilitated a small virtual build pilot, which inevitably led to our inaugural virtual event with a long-time 48in48 partner, IBM. (Applause!)

The IBM virtual event was held the weekend of June 12th with 57 IBM volunteers from across the US, Canada and Germany. The IBM build volunteers were supported by amazing planning and marketing committees, technology support and team coaches which brought the total event volunteers to 71. You are all amazing! So, this special issue is dedicated to the incredible relationships, volunteers, and nonprofits that made this happen. It was an amazing weekend! The volunteers went above and beyond, delivering not only beautiful, fully functional websites, but also new logos, style guides, strategic advice and more to each nonprofit.

Hopefully, this recap will show you how your own experience can make a difference, especially in this challenging environment. Please bring your passion and skills to the next event - sign up here!

As always, we appreciate your support, and please reach out to me if we can help you in any way.

Take Care,
Sima
Executive in Residence

What did the volunteers & partners think?

Bee-Lian D Quah,
Associate Partner (IBM Enterprise Strategy & iX - Financial Services)

"It was great to partner with 48in48 to "go virtual," and I was particularly excited to see so many IBMers, from all different parts of our organization, volunteer for the event. This event opened the door to so many new volunteers who live outside of the cities where we've had events planned. I look forward to seeing how we continue to leverage what we learned from this first virtual event for other 48in48 events in the future!"

Leigh Hunter, Associate Partner (Global Business Services)

"Being a part of the first virtual 48in48 with my IBM teammates was the uplift we needed after going through so much over the last few months. The non-profit founders’ passion and dedication to their purpose incentivized the team to create something special. How often do we get a chance to use our heart and soul along with our brains and experience?!  Getting a chance to deliver a high quality, working website that’s sole purpose is to help a community live a better life made the long weekend hours worth it! Although the event was 100% remote, 48in48’s successful formula and tools helped us achieve our results without a hitch. The whole experience inspired me to do more - I can’t wait until the next one!"

Ryan Dodds, Business Transformation Consultant

"For nonprofit organizations, a modern, functional website is incredibly important in their mission to make a difference. Participating in the virtual 48in48 event gave me the opportunity to help a nonprofit organization achieve that goal and also taught me valuable skills that I plan to utilize moving forward. I can't wait to participate in the next event!"
